The Idea Evaluation Questions
How feasible is the idea? Can it be done in a day? Does it take longer than a year? The less time, the higher the score.
How remarkable is the idea? Does it make people want to know more or shock them? Unicorns get the highest score.
How persuasive is the idea? Is it the right idea, at the right time, presented by the right person? Does it provide tremendous relief for people? A ten is a goddess selling water in the desert.
How shareable is this idea? How likely is it to spread, or are others to tell other people? Another term for this could be virality.
How hyped are you to see this idea become the real thing? Are you excited enough to work on it all day? What about all day, every day, for a year? High scores mean you'll do anything to see this through.
Does the market replenish itself? Can you consume the market in one place, find another just like it, and do the same? Ideas like Uber and Facebook get a ten out of ten here.
How clear is the target customer for this idea? Are they ultra-niche and specific? The smaller, more unique category of people to target makes for a better score.
How big of a problem does this idea solve? Does it end oil fires in the middle east? Does it completely disrupt a system? The idea itself can be something small, like making ceiling fans more efficient. But the problem it solves can be huge (there are billions of ceiling fans).
How market competitive are you versus brand competitive? Brand competitive means you are competing by being exclusive, cheaper, faster, having a better customer experience, etc. Marketing competitive means you are teaching the consumer a whole new way of doing something. The closer you are to being entirely marketing competitive, the higher the score.
How great is the market/founder fit? Or the market/author fit? Are you the best person in the world to launch this company or write that book? Are you an expert with years of experience and credibility to back it up? That's a perfect fit.
How big were similar ideas to yours? Were they multi-million dollar companies or billions? Were they bestsellers or cult classics? In other words, is your idea clearly interesting or valuable to many?
